This sign is porcelain enamel and advertises for the city of DeKalb, known worldwide by the famous "Winged Ear" corn agriculture logo, barbed wire, and DeKalb Chix poultry research. It is likely that this unique porcelain sign was produced sometime between 1930-1950. The makers mark on the sign reads "L. D. Nelke - Signs - New York". The LK Nelke company was a prominent producer of such signs from the early 1900s through 1950.
