This TNT box was used at Barksdale Works, an explosive plant owned and operated by DuPont to serve the wartime and industrial needs of the U.S. At one time this plant was the largest explosive plant in the country. This box likely originated before or during the 1920s when the plant switched to manufacturing and testing more powerful explosives. After suffering many fatalities the plant saw its end on October 15th 1952 when eight men were killed and most of the plant was destroyed during two massive explosions.
The overall dimensions of this box measure 17.25" in width, 12" in depth with a standing height of 9.75". The interior dimensions of this box measure 16.75" in width, 11" in depth with a standing height of 9".
